Gianni Schicchi

April 2004 Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica, two short contrasting Puccini operas. This fully costumed double bill toured to six Devon and Cornwall venues with twenty singers taking principal roles.

Autumn 2004 Italian evening with music and wine in an innovative new Gallery setting which provided excellent acoustics and ambience with a stunning backdrop.

January 2005 Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors for soloists and small chorus with oboe & keyboard accompaniment, together with Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols. Two gifted boy soloists alternated in the title role. This Epiphany tour broke new ground in six churches in towns and villages.

July 2005 Summer Gala concerts with invited guest soloists Jonathan Stoughton and Zoe Milton-Brown, performed in Portscatho and at the Rum Store at Carnglaze Caverns, which is the Company's home venue.

November 2005 Another Taste of Italy - Italian Evening at the Barn Restaurant, Trelissick Gardens, Truro A lively evening of wonderful Italian opera arias, duets, choruses and more to the accompaniment of a delightful Italian meal with wine. This was given by special request following the success of our similar concert last year in the city centre.

Die Fledermaus at Lemon Market


December 2005 Die Fledermaus at Lemon Street Market, Truro and also in Bodmin and Liskeard Johann Strauss' marvellous comic opera Die Fledermaus ('The Bat'), semi-staged under the direction of Brian Odgers in the award winning Lemon Street Market in Truro and also on the stages of the two fine public buildings of Bodmin and Liskeard.The conductor was the highly-regarded David Frost and soloists included Daniel Hoadley, John Hobbs, Louise Merrifield, Michele Sharkey, Jonathan Stoughton, and Shirley Tyack as well as surprise guests. This sparkling score featured the Champagne Chorus, the famous Laughing Song, the dramatic Czardas and Brother mine with many familiar glorious melodies.

June 2006 The Marriage of Figaro. New Cornwall Opera began its summer tour at Trelissick Gardens as part of the prestigious Fal River Festival with the comic opera The Marriage of Figaro. This tale of passion, deceit and forgiveness, with its lavish helpings of lust, lies and love, is one of opera's masterpieces and considered by many to be Mozart's finest opera. The music is sensational and unforgettable, the plot witty, optimistic and packed with action. It was performed to a high standard using small chorus, together with professional and semi-professional soloists, and was fully staged and costumed. It was directed by Angela Thomas and conducted by David Frost.

Winter 2006 "Viva" - a concert of opera music associated with Spain, conducted by John Hobbs. Soloists and Chorus toured several venues around the county, performing colourful, passionate and occasionally frivolous music by Mozart, Donizetti, Verdi and de Falla.

 July 2007 saw the company make the leap to the prestigious open air Minack Theatre on the cliffs above Porthcurno in West Cornwall. A production of Bizet's Carmen delighted audiences for a week and sold out at all performances.

In 2008 the company toured a series of opera concerts with varied material including pieces from Carmen.
